Prescription Benefits Program

AmeriHealth Administrators offers a preferred prescription benefits program through FutureScripts^®, a national, pharmacy benefits management company with a network of more than 60,000 retail pharmacies, including independent pharmacies and major chains. The prescription drug program is tailored to each client’s needs and incorporates features designed to achieve significant savings for the plan and its members.

The prescription benefits program includes:

• a formulary option to enhance your savings;
• mail-order services for convenience and added savings;
• integration with health management program member outreach;
• thorough monitoring and review of drug utilization;
• electronic interface between participating pharmacies and prescription adminis­trator;
• online resources for members to manage their prescriptions, locate pharmacies, and obtain drug information and pricing;
• educational resources.

The formulary-based program includes all generic drugs and a defined list of brand drugs that have been selected for their reported medical effectiveness, positive results, and value.

The formulary includes all therapeutic categories and provides physicians with prescribing options. In addition, the formulary is reviewed periodically to add new drugs and to remove brand drugs when a generic equivalent becomes available.
